Introduction to Report Generation
Overview of TimeZero's report generation capabilities
Writing reports, so you don't have to.
Report generation is at the heart of TimeZero. This page explains how the process works, what you can expect, and how to get the best results.
What is Report Generation?
Report generation is the process of transforming raw, unstructured data into professional, structured documentation. TimeZero uses AI to analyze your input data, understand context, and create coherent narratives that are ready to use.

How Report Generation Works
Report generation in TimeZero follows a simple process: you input your data (activity logs or WhatsApp chat exports), optionally add case context to guide the AI, select your preferred report type (Executive, Standard, or Comprehensive), generate the report, review and refine the output, and finally export it as a .docx file.
During this process, TimeZero analyzes your data structure to identify timestamps, participants, events, and patterns, extracts key information and important details, creates a logical narrative flow that organizes events into a coherent story, maintains accuracy by preserving factual information from your source data, applies any case context you've provided (including case files, people of interest, goals, and objectives), and formats everything professionally into a clear, consistent structure tailored to your selected report type.
Report Types
TimeZero offers three report types, each tailored for different audiences and purposes:
| Report Type | Length | Best For | Audience | Detail Level | Use |
|---|---|---|---|---|---|
| Executive | 2-3 sentences | Quick briefings, executive updates, high-level overviews | Client executives, stakeholders, decision-makers | Minimal; focuses on "what matters most" | When your audience needs to understand the situation quickly without getting into operational details. |
| Standard | 10-15 sentences (1-3 paragraphs) | Most surveillance reports, routine case documentation | Case managers, team leads, clients | Balanced; combines overview with relevant specifics | For most day-to-day reporting needs where you need both context and detail. |
| Comprehensive | 30-50 sentences (multiple paragraphs) | Legal proceedings, detailed records, audit trails, court submissions | Legal teams, investigators, compliance officers | Maximum; includes everything from source data | When you need a complete, defensible record with full documentation for legal or compliance purposes. |
